WHAT'S IN THIS STUFF? A CLOSER LOOK INTO OUR FACE WASH

We don't need to tell you that your face is a big deal. It's the only one you've got. And, we have already told you why you need a face wash. So, we'll get right down to the details. Because in addition to using a face wash, you want one that you can feel good about. But going the "all-natural" route is far from a sure thing. For one, "natural" has become more buzzword than a meaningful descriptor. Secondly, there are plenty of all-natural ingredients that should not get anywhere close to your face. (Poison ivy face lotion, anyone?)

Meanwhile, there are some ingredients that sound like they belong in a Chemistry textbook that are fantastic for that face of yours. Below is a list of everything contained in our Face Wash, along with an explanation of what it is, and why we use it. We think you'll like what you see.

  • Water: Plain and simple, H2O.
  • Cocamidopropyl Betaine: A coconut-derived foaming and cleansing agent that is a safe alternative to sulfates. This compound gently removes dirt from your skin and hair.
  • Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate: A cleansing agent that is gentle to the skin and causes little irritation. Usually found in foaming cleansing products, it is biodegradable with good cleaning and rinsing ability. It is resistant to hard water and helps create smoothness for your skin.
  • Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate: A fatty acid derived from coconut oil, it is used in cosmetics as a surfactant, which allows for water to mix with oil and dirt, allowing them to be rinsed away easily.
  • Cocamide DIPA: A coconut-derived surfactant used to increase foam and viscosity. This makes the lather a little more luxurious.
  • Polysorbate 80: A surfactant and emulsifier primarily used in cosmetic products. It helps other ingredients dissolve in a solvent that is usually not dissolvable.
  • Decyl Glucoside: A sugar-derived mild cleansing agent. Suitable for sensitive skin, it possesses moisture-retaining properties that help promote soft, smooth skin.
  • Polyquaternium-10: Enhances the look and feel of hair by increasing hair body and suppleness. Also helps to improve physically damaged hair and prevents static electricity. This is ingredient is one of the reasons our face wash gets such love from our bearded customers.
  • Glycerin: A humectant compound found in vegetable and animal fats. It works as a protective layer to moisturize the skin by attracting water from the air to the skin.
  • Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Extract: An extract from the leaves of the tea plant Camellia sinensis. It is an effective antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging ingredient.
  • Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil: Extracted through steam distillation of twigs and leaves of tea tree. This extract helps relieve and eliminate acne. It can also aid in the lightening of the appearance of scars and blemishes.
  • Tocopherol (Vitamin E): A form of Vitamin E, Tocopherol is a natural antioxidant and skin conditioner. This vitamin contains anti-aging, moisturizing, and antioxidant properties. It also helps to block the skin from free radicals to prevent fine lines.

  • Sodium Benzoate: A mild preservative that prevents the growth of harmful mold and bacteria in products that contain water.
  • Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil: Peppermint oil is rich in omega 3 fatty acids, vitamins A and C, calcium, magnesium and potassium. • Phenoxyethanol: Functions as a disinfectant or antibiotic to help preserve cosmetic products.

  • Eucalyptus Radiata (Eucalyptus) Oil: Made from the oil of eucalyptus leaves. Aids in the treatment of acne, eczema, sun spots, blemishes, and aging. Frequently used for its pleasant aroma in personal care products.
