The fish market, the meatpacking district, the garment trade
all swallowed eventually by the rising tide

Flowers that crossed oceans overnight, cleared customs in the dark,
and landed on West 28th Street still cold
in time for the city to wake up, see them, and never wonder how they arrived
This is not a plush smell
It is the smell of stems cut fresh
of green water, cold concrete, and determination
It is the smell of people doing serious work
before the rest of us have opened our eyes
The district has been here since the 1890s
when the wholesalers came to Chelsea to be near the wealth
and for most of a century it flourished,
sixty shops deep, the largest flower market in the world outside Amsterdam
It is smaller now, pressed quiet
by the same forces that have taken so much else
But it is still here
at four in the morning, improbably, beautifully, still here

Flower District opens with the sharp, clean brightness of Grapefruit, Rhubarb, and Italian Lemon, the scent of stems and cold morning air. Tomato Leaf and Violet Leaves carry the green heart of it, verdant and raw. Beneath it all, Sandalwood, Amber Resins, and Birch settle into something warm and enduring, the way a place that has survived this long carries its own quiet confidence.

Frank Voelkl
A quiet yet charismatic man, Frank believes “in creating fragrances that

After graduating from ISIPCA, Frank composed his first fragrance, a tiare flower. This creation galvanized his career and paid loving homage to his Tahitian wife. Today, as a contemporary ‘adventurer’ Frank relishes the chance to discover the world, especially his travels to French Polynesia,
where its intoxicating air is redolent with the colors and scents of nature in its purest form. These paradisiacal islands are flamboyantly rich in nature and plenitude; they are perhaps his greatest inspiration of all.
