Somewhere between myth and memory lies Contrabando. Built as a backdrop for many of the Western shows and movies that defined an era, it was never a place anyone called home.

Yet, this old film set in West Texas is as much a ghost town as any other–a fiction that became truth through time and neglect. The fine line between legend and imagination is the inspiration for our fragrance Contrabando.

It is fresh and vivid, with Bergamot Zest, Ambrette, and the green pulse of Ocotillo. The mineral hush of Desert Rain collides with powdery Orris, evoking raindrops falling on the sun-scorched earth. At last, the warm and familiar scents of Cedar and Leather appear—notes that remind us that every myth begins with something real.

Caroline Sabas

The aromas of Caroline Sabas’s childhood in Grasse are some of the most delectable in the world. The scent of flower fields—rose, jasmine, lavender and mimosa—wafted over to her home.

“There was so much to smell,” she recalls. “Every year I spent time in the Tanneron Massif surrounded by mimosa trees. It is still very much in my brain and incredibly powerful.”

Caroline began training her nose in her father’s lab where her love affair with the world of fragrance first started. With roots in the perfume business, it was inevitable that she would experience the industry herself, eventually attending perfume school in Versailles at ISIPCA. No matter the project, no matter the notes, Caroline continues to craft from a place of pure emotion with passion and honesty at the forefront. Ripe with authenticity, her versatile designs are full of a wide range of feelings; she brings life to each creation.
