How to create a proper neckline when shaving

There are lots of things in life that seem remarkably simple but are somehow remarkably nerve-racking: taking that first step onto an escalator, going to sleep when you have to wake up extra early the next morning, and of course…knowing exactly what to shave and what to leave when rocking the stubbly look. Here’s a quick quide for how to get it right.

Follow Your Natural Jawline: Maybe it seems obvious, but to determine the ideal placement of your neckline, use your jawline as a guide.

Start from just below your earlobe and shave downward towards your Adam's apple, following the natural curve of your jawline. Even if you don’t have a defined-looking jaw, just follow your jawbone by feel, and ensure your line is on the underside of your jawbone.

Make it easier for yourself: Rather than using a foamy shave cream that hides the area you’re trying to shave, use a clear shave oil instead. You will be able to see your work, and remove some of the guesswork that comes with shaving. If you’re looking for a Shave Oil, you can’t do better than Formula 5. It creates a slick barrier between your razor and your skin, it nourishes your skin, and of course, it smells fantastic. Even better, it also functions as a beard oil, and hair oil, offering healthy shine and direction, with zero weight or greasy sensation.

Keep it up: To keep your neckline looking sharp, maintain it regularly by shaving any stray hairs that may grow beyond the desired boundary. This will ensure that your five o'clock shadow remains well-groomed and intentional.
