Our Bar Soap Manifesto

At Fulton & Roark, we don't create a product unless we believe we can offer something better than what already exists. We knew that would be a difficult task when it came to bar soap, because there are so many already in existence. However, we landed on four "truths" that we focused on to create our line of Bar Soaps, and we believe by holding to these four ideas, we made something truly extraordinary. 

1. Bar soap should leave your skin feeling clean and refreshed, not waxy or dry.  With that in mind, we formulated our Bar Soap with a blend of skin-nourishing ingredients like Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter and Olive Oil that leave your skin feeling soft and clean. 

2. Bar soap shouldn't rely on a washcloth in order to work well. When we were conducting research, we asked bar soap users if they used a washcloth, and almost all of them said "yes," almost reflexively. If we followed up with the question, "Did you use one today?" we got a lot more negative responses. With that in mind, we created a bar of soap that lathers up thick and foamy if you're using a washcloth but also goes a great job if you're going straight bar-to-skin too. We created a blend of oatmeal flour and rhassoul (a clay used in spa treatments) that not only helps gently exfoliate your skin, but also helps the bar glide through even the coarsest of body hair. Does that sound a little ridiculous? Yes. Does it also make for an awesome bar of soap? Why yes, it does. 

3. Good bar soap should last a long time. When doing our research, we found some examples of soaps made of great ingredients that worked well. However, those bars either disappeared within a couple of weeks or worse yet, became goopy and gummy in the shower, making them practically useless.

4. "Exfoliating" shouldn't feel like using  sandpaper. There are lots of exfoliating bar soaps available, and while the point of them is to remove the dead skin cells with a slightly coarse texture, almost all of them were far too rough to maintain healthy skin. Our exfoliating formula offers enough grit to keep your skin healthy and fresh without over-exfoliating which can lead to dry and irritated skin.
